Professional Experience Circa Information Corporation July 2000 to Present IT Service Management As the IT Manager for an industry-run agricultural organization dedicated to providing herd improvement and genetic products, programs, information and expertise, I was responsible for all IT services, including network administration, application development/enhancements using Visual Basic and Visual FoxPro, web site development/maintenance using HTML, Javascript and PHP. Initially contracted to rescue a stalled DOS to Windows conversion project vital to the business, I successfully completed the project and also provided enhanced automated data communications between the organization and it’s Canada-wide counterpart. Application Development Developed medium size applications for various clients using Visual Basic, Visual Basic.NET and Java including a rental management system, an Enterprise Resource Planning system and an ITIL based Configuration Management System. I am currently developing web sites for business management and a local sports organization. GSW Water Heating Company October, 1995 to July 2000 Senior Programmer/Analyst GSW is Canada's leading designer and manufacturer of residential and commercial water heaters. As the Programmer/Analyst I was responsible for day to day operation of company ERP System as well as providing enhancements and fixes. The lack of proper version control caused serious problems and my first task was to implement stringent controls to prevent the ERP system supplier from making changes to our system without proper testing. Some of my other enhancement/fixes to the ERP system included the design, development and implementation of a Warranty Maintenance program, implementation of a database indexing strategy, design and migration of the ERP system to a client/server model, a Sales and Marketing on-line reporting system and a re-designed Cash Receipt routine. I was also responsible for the testing and remediation of legacy systems for Y2K compliance. Circa Information Corporation October 1992 to October, 1995 Senior Programmer/Analyst Designed and delivered an adult course covering basic computer concepts, WordPerfect and PlanPerfect. Designed and developed telecommunication packages including BBS doors and dial-in database systems. Designed and delivered an intensive course covering basic database concepts using Paradox for Windows Responsible for the design and production of an order release module of a shipping manifest program including mouse and touch screen technology. Re-design shipping manifest program to further automate the shipping process Provide custom programming and customer support for manufacturing/payroll systems running on Novell networks at client sites. Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food April 1991 to October, 1992 Consulting Programmer/Analyst Full responsibility for the re-design of a Ministry records management system used in 54 offices across the province. Enhancements included multi-user network access as well as major user interface, security and data storage changes. This project also included support of clients still using the older version of the program. During my time at the ministry I also providing consulting services to Ministry committee on PC Network Standards Development.
