Sample: EMail Migration - Workstation Technicians ’ Instructions

Please call the Senior Tech if you encounter any unexpected or unusual situations. Please ask the client to call the Senior Tech or the Project Manager if they have any questions related to the project.
Please be sure that you complete each instruction on every workstation.
- Verify connection between workstation and email servers:
- Have the client log in to the network . If you are setting up a computer for remote access, dial in and connect the network via your remote access server;
- Start Windows (if necessary)
- Open a DOS Prompt
- Type the following command and then press enter:
PING EX-SERVER-1
If you get the following response, exit from the DOS prompt and proceed to Step 2.

If you see the following response, refer to Appendix A: IP Settings

- Verify connection between workstation and email servers:
- Windows 95 and Windows NT ONLY.
- If you encounter an operating system other than these,please contact the Senior Tech.
- Start Exchange/Outlook with the client logged in and go into the "old" profile.
- Ensure that Tools, Options, General, Startup options is set to "Prompt for profile to be used", OK
- File, Exit and Log off.
- Start, Settings, Control Panel, Mail (and Fax)
- Show Profiles
- If there is more than one profile, ask the client if more than one person uses this computer for email,
- If more than one person uses this computer for email, page the Senior Tech and move on to the next workstation on your list;
- Highlight the profile that is listed under "When starting..." and click on Properties
- If Personal Address Book is present, look at the properties for it and note the path, then cancel.
